Spring time at our farm starts with lambing in March.  It is still pretty cold and winter work continues.

By mid spring we try to get all winter projects in a state we can leave them until the next winter; we do not have extra time to work on them in the summer.

As the temperature warms up we start getting ready to plant vegetables.  We always have a lot of rocks to pick, the fields have to be harrowed (followed by more rock picking) and the final seedbed preparation.  We start planting potatoes, carrots, onions, beets and other hardy vegetables pretty early (late April/early May where we live).  Carrots, lettuce, beans and corn get planted almost all summer.
