Picking leeks in late fall
December is usually spent trying to tidy up all the vegetable loose ends and preparing for cold weather. Firewood is hopefully already in dry storage for winter, most of the vegetables have been harvested and the animals are getting used to the cold weather.

A little bit of carpentry - winter 2008
January and February are catch-up months for the farm. The days are crammed full of animal chores, planning, administration, meetings and conferences, and sawing firewood for the next winter. We try to do most of our infrastructure building during the winter; the list of carpentry jobs and mechanical projects grows every year. Spending some family time during the colder months is high on our priority list, although there is always a great deal of work we are behind in.
